Therapy for the Woman Who Has It All Together: How Amani Healing Center Is Different
You’ve built a life most people admire. You lead the meeting, close the deal, mentor the new hire, and still remember your mother’s appointment on Thursday. People trust you because you always deliver.
What they don’t see is the cost. The mind that won’t quiet down at 2 a.m. The quiet fear that one misstep will undo everything. The fatigue that a long weekend doesn’t fix. You’re not falling apart. You’re simply carrying more than anyone should carry alone.
Amani Healing Center was built for women like you. Our tagline is “therapy for discerning women,” and we mean it. You’re selective about where you invest your time and whom you trust. Here’s what you can expect from us.
A practice designed around your life
High-achieving women don’t have time to waste. We respect that.
We offer evening appointments, so therapy doesn’t compete with your calendar. You can meet with us in person at our Newark office on Chapman Road, or by secure video from your home, your office, or your parked car, anywhere in Delaware or Maryland.
Getting started is simple. Instead of a long intake packet up front, you begin with a short, secure form or a phone call. Our team handles fit, availability, and insurance. Full paperwork comes only after you’ve been matched with the right therapist.
Discretion you can count on
When you hold a visible role, privacy matters. What you share in therapy is confidential, with only the limited exceptions required by law. Your employer won’t know you’re in therapy unless you tell them. Online sessions mean no one sees you walk into an office.
Clinicians who understand your world
Our team is made up of Black women and women of color. We understand what it means to be the only one in the room, to be held to a higher standard, and to manage how you’re perceived while doing excellent work.
You won’t spend your sessions explaining code-switching, the weight of being “the first,” or why you can’t afford an off day. We already understand. That means we get to the real work faster.
Expertise matched to what you’re facing
Each of our therapists brings a distinct focus, so you’re matched with someone who knows your specific challenge well:
- Imposter syndrome, self-esteem, and rebuilding after a crisis with Shea Marriott, LMSW, our Executive Director.
- People-pleasing, family patterns, and relationships with Jessica Johnson, LCSW, who helps women understand how what happened growing up shapes the way they lead and love today.
- Anxiety and major life transitions, like a new role, a relocation, or the end of a relationship, with Felicia Jarmon, MSW.
- Infertility and pregnancy loss with Kimberly Glenn, LCSW, a Certified Fertility Counselor. Many professional women navigate IVF while carrying full workloads, often without telling anyone at work. Learn about fertility counseling.
Substance, not small talk
You don’t need someone to nod along. You want insight and results.
Our therapists use proven, structured approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. Together you’ll identify the patterns driving your stress, set clear goals, and practice tools you can use in the next meeting, the next difficult conversation, or the next sleepless night.
Think of it as the same kind of investment you’d make in an executive coach, with the clinical depth to address what’s underneath: high-functioning anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, and the belief that you have to earn rest.
Leadership with a proven record
I founded Amani after building one of the largest Black-owned child and adolescent mental health practices in the country. I also co-founded Clinicians of Color, a platform that educates, advocates for, and elevates BIPOC mental health professionals. I hold Amani to that same standard of excellence, and it shapes how we care for every client.
Trusted by the professionals who refer to us
A local gynecologist who refers patients to Amani put it simply: “I send women there because they tell me how much better they feel, and that they make real changes.”
