When rest doesn’t fix it anymore

You used to bounce back after a weekend. Now you wake up tired. Things you once cared about feel like one more task. You’re short with people, and you don’t like who you are when you’re this worn down.

Burnout builds slowly. It can come from a demanding job, from caring for children or aging parents, or from being the person everyone leans on. Often it’s all three at once.

Common signs of burnout

  • You’re exhausted even after sleep or time off
  • You feel detached, numb, or cynical about things you used to care about
  • Small tasks feel bigger than they should
  • You’re more irritable with the people around you
  • You get sick more often, or your body feels tense all the time

Exhaustion can also have medical causes. If you haven’t had a recent checkup, it’s worth talking with your doctor too.

How therapy helps

Getting your energy back takes more than a vacation

Therapy gives you room to look at what’s draining you and why it’s so hard to put any of it down. Together with your therapist, you’ll sort out what’s really yours to carry, practice saying no without the guilt spiral, and rebuild rest into a life that doesn’t currently allow for it.

Burnout and depression can look alike. Your therapist can help you understand which one you’re dealing with, or whether it’s both. Learn about depression therapy.

What you might work on

  • Naming what drains you and what refills you
  • Boundaries at work and at home
  • Caregiver stress and sharing the load
  • The belief that you have to earn rest
  • Coping with what you can’t change right now

Questions

Before you reach out

How do I know if it's burnout or depression?

They can look alike, and they can happen together. Burnout is usually tied to a source, like work or caregiving, and eases when the load changes. Depression tends to follow you everywhere. Your therapist can help you sort out what's going on.

Do I need to quit my job to recover from burnout?

Not necessarily. Many women find relief by changing how they carry the load: boundaries, rest, help at home, and a clearer sense of what's theirs to do. Therapy helps you decide what changes make sense for you.

Can you help with caregiver burnout?

Yes. Dr. Jasmine Wynn focuses on caregiver stress and family conflict for women caught between kids, aging parents, and work.

Do you take my insurance?

We accept Aetna, Highmark Delaware commercial plans, and Delaware Medicaid plans, including Highmark Health Options, AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, and Delaware First Health. There is no cost to you with Delaware Medicaid. We confirm your benefits before scheduling.

Do you offer evening appointments?

Yes. We offer evening appointments so therapy can fit around work and family.

You have carried enough on your own.

Take the first small step. We will help you find the next right one.
